Gur-ta-Gaddi (Gur ta Gaddi) celebration at Nanded involves the remembrance of the 300th year of the consecration of Guru Granth Sahib as the last guru of Sikh community by Guru Gobind Singhji. The event will also commemorate the 300th anniversary of the Parlok Gaman of Guru Gobind Singhji

It is observed that the predominant part (93.28%) of city's population is occupied in the tertiary activities. This is basically due to the large of amount of trade and commercial activities concentrated in Nanded.  Nanded is conferred Holy City status due to the presence of

• Huzur Sahib Gurudwara: Second most sacred place for Sikhs.
• Two of the 10 Jyothirlings that gain its significance due to being part of the
salvation circuit for Hindu pilgrimage
• Presence of the Mahur Renukadevi Mandir which is a very popular pilgrim center
in Maharashtra
• Other historical centers in the region

 Connectivity is another strength by which is Nanded is connected to many other
major destinations like Amritsar, Aurangabad, Nagpur, Hyderabad and Mumbai.

Housing Sector

The region is facing imbalanced housing development. Many regions in the urban areas have encroachments and is affecting the smooth urban management operations. Equitable distribution of the housing stock is another sector, which lacks due to improper planning. The major problems faced by the region are Lack of organized residential accommodations, Lack of proper development layouts, Encroachments, Lack of support and social infrastructure.

Transportation Sector:

Road infrastructure in Nanded region is highly inadequate for the planned developments in the region. The city roads are in bad condition in immediate need of repairs and maintenance. This has affected the traffic management and road planning of the region. There are considerable encroachments, which is hampering proper road development.

Health Sector :

Health infrastructure in Nanded is highly inadequate. Specialized medical services are virtually non-existent. Private sector players are dominating the sector, which leads to exploitation Specific health care has to be developed to cater to the demands of the 2008 Gurudwara Event.

Education Sector :

Nanded has a very vibrant education sector. There are institutions, which cater to students in various faculties of technical and non-technical sectors. There are institutions, which offers courses in Engineering, Medicine, Law, Management and Agriculture Sciences etc. This has resulted in Nanded having a large population of students from nearby cities studying in these Colleges. Quality facilities for research and development are not available in the region. Human capital is also lacking in the sector.
